MEET OUR TRIBE!
John is the resident wizard of our mechanics' pit. When he's not wrenching, he shreds the MTB trails at Vulture's Knob and Ray's. Bring him an Aeropress coffee (black!), and he'll be your friend for life.
When he's not fixing bikes or taking rides on the Kokosing Gap Trail with his wife Steph, Foster supports area trails as president of Massillon Area Greenways. If Johnny Cash is on the radio, Foster is here!
Max is our ultimate authority on all things BMX. He practices for his races on the dirt jumps at Apple Creek Trails, and spends the rest of his time in the greenhouse perfecting his horticulture skills.
One of our most dedicated commuters, you'll see Joshua riding to work year-round. Outside of the mechanics' pit and sales floor, he's also an amateur gemologist and a fan of really good sci-fi.
Got an e-bike question? Tyler has the answer! He brings an artist's eye to everything he does, from pottery to detailing cars. On a sunny day, you might catch him hunting morels or enjoying the water at Atwood Lake.
Our self-described inveterate hardware geek and music nerd, Wayne also commutes to work (and anywhere else he can!) on his bike. He especially enjoys cheering on his beloved Columbus Crew.
Brie's favorite trail, the Towpath, also lets her commute to work, although she's excited to explore other Ohio bike paths. She's a lover of music of all genres, and can play multiple instruments.
Gibby, our trusty delivery driver, also wrangles boats and paddlers at the Trailhead Canoe Livery in the summertime. Ask him about his yo-yo hobby the next time you see him!
When she's not busy as our bookkeeping brains, Debbie's favorite rides are those with her husband, Ern Sr. She's also working on a quilt her mother began 30 years ago! (She's making progress.)
The guy on our sign! Ern Sr. opened our doors in 1978. His favorite moment on a bike is riding down the lane to home. He's also an expert in cutting firewood — both in AND out of the Tuscarawas River.
Molly splits her time between the sales floor and handling our shop communications. She recommends the Blackhand Gorge trail, and can probably beat you at the New York Times crossword.
Ern Jr., our Massillon manager, is a simple guy: All he needs are a few tracks of Bob Dylan, a road ride through Black Moshannon State Park, homemade maple syrup, and a happy pup.
Ellie has held her post as the official shop cat since 2007, when a customer discovered a hungry kitten on the Towpath and brought her to us. She's pretty sure she's the one in charge around here.
Our New Philadelphia manager loves to hit the Towpath and the trails at Tuscazoar, then cuddle up with a dog and a good movie. (Alien might be Adam's all-time favorite, but it's a tough call.)
Like his namesake, Geddy's always in a rush. He's great on any set of wheels, whether it's a mountain bike at Tuscazoar, a skateboard at the Tuscora skate park, or the Ernie's delivery truck.
They don't call him "The Brain" for nothing: when he's not riding at Tuscazoar, Andrew is probably playing grand strategy video games. Niche titles like Stellaris are his favorite.
Bruce retired in 2021 after three decades at Ernie's! He's enjoying spending time with family, riding in Mohican State Park and cooking up a storm.
Come see Brandon for all your e-bike questions: he's the expert at the New Philadelphia shop. On his days off, he hits the Tuscazoar trails!
Kenny moonlights as a restaurant chef when he's not talking and fixing bikes. He recommends riding the Towpath between Bolivar and Route 416, taking in the old rail line and White Bridge.
On his days off, you might catch Chris, the manager of our North Canton shop, practicing his recurve bow. For a great ride, he recommends the roads by Walborn Reservoir.
Joe is a true teacher at heart, whether it's martial arts or bike repairs. He also has very definite opinions on the best metal music. Catch up with him at Raystown Lake or on our shop rides to Shale Brewing!
If you see his cool custom-painted van parked outside, Chase M. is working! (If not, he's at the 9th Street skate park.) Come into the shop early enough and you might catch him practicing his sax.
Want to know more about bike travel, backpacking, or both? Detail-oriented Bill, who once rode the 2,500 Great Divide Mountain Route from Canada to Mexico, can tell you everything you need to know!
Gavin is another musical member of our North Canton crew, playing the guitar. On his days off, you might catch him on his mountain bike, ripping the trails at Quail Hollow.
A Renaissance man, Larry is a talented woodworker, an experienced teacher, and an expert on bike training. He loves riding the Cumberland Pass in between his many activities.
Dani brings an artistic eye to our North Canton showroom: she's earning her degree in graphic design at Kent. She recommends riding on the Hoover Trail.
Jacob likes to mix it up on his bike: you might see him on the ramps at the 9th Street DIY skate park or shredding the trails at Ray's. Along with Chase M. and Gavin, he's one of our shop musicians, too.
Chase C. loves experiencing the outdoors in many forms, including camping at Mohican Wilderness and and riding the roads and trails around Mohican State Park.
