FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

An assortment of our most common questions. If you can't find an answer here, give us a call or use the Contact Us form found here.

  • What should I bring when I come canoeing?

During the signup process you will need a driver's license, credit card, and set of car keys, which we use to secure our equipment. For on the river we strongly recommend close-toed shoes, a drink, a snack, bug spray, and (depending on the conditions) sunscreen.

  • What's the process for going canoeing?

When you arrive at the Trailhead, head into the bike shop. There you'll get signed up, then sent to the canoe livery where we outfit you with life jackets and paddles. From there we load up in our vans, drive upriver, and get you launched. You paddle back downstream to the Trailhead, ending at your car. This means there's no waiting around to be picked up after your trip.

  • Can we bring our dog?

We love dogs as much as you do and they are welcome to come canoeing with you. They must be on a leash and restrained during transport. You are responsible for your dog's actions, including cleaning up after them.

  • Can I fish while canoeing?

Yes!  The water quality of the Tuscarawas River has improved greatly over the past several years. This has brought with it an abundance of Northern Pike, bass, blue gill, crappie, and other fish. We do NOT have bait here, so be sure to stock up on your way in!

  • What if it rains?

We operate rain or shine. We will suspend operations if the rain is accompanied by lightning.

  • Does the river ever get too high to go canoeing?

Absolutely. It's always best to call ahead to check water levels, especially if we've experienced lots of rain!

  • How many people can fit in one canoe?

Three adults or two adults and two children. We do have a couple larger canoes that will hold up to four adults or two adults and four children. Call ahead to reserve these. And remember: our prices are per person, not per boat. Four adults in two canoes is the same price as four adults in one, so you can spread out and get comfy!
